Massive reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir Police; New responsibilities for 74 police officers including 20 IPS officers

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir police department underwent a massive reshuffle. 74 police personnel, including 20 IPS officers, have been posted to Jammu and Kashmir. The government appointed new police chiefs in seven districts and DIGs in three ranges. As per the orders issued by the Home Ministry, 15 Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) and 59 Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been transferred.

Garib Das, a senior IPS officer from 1997-batch, has been appointed as the director of Sheri Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur. Raees Mohammad Bhat, the IPS officer of the South Kashmir Range has been appointed as the new DIG. According to the order, Vivek Gupta IPS has been appointed as DIG of North Kashmir range and Shakti Pathak as the new DIG of Jammu-Samba-Katwa range.

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has also been strengthened by the appointment of IPS officers Dr Ajeet Singh, Abdul Qayyum and Haseeb ur Rehman as DIGs of SIA. Sridhar Patil IPS has been transferred as Traffic DIG, Jammu. Among the 59 transferred SPs, Nagpur Amod Ashok has been posted as Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, and Lakshay Sharma (IPS) and Sahil Sarangal (IPS) as SPs of Bandipora and Kulgam districts.

Similarly, Deep Singh Jamwal has been appointed as SP of Katwa district, Benam Tosh as SSP of Samba district and Khalil Ahmed Poswale and Al-Tahir Geelani as new SPs of Kishtwar and Badgam districts, says the order. Ten new Additional SPs have also been appointed in various districts as per the order.
