Pathanamthitta: Sabarimala, celebrates Makaravilakk festival today. The land of lord ayyappa is filled with devotion and prayers to the deity.
The procession of the Thiruvabharanam, the holy ornaments of Ayappaswamy, will reach Sannidhanam today at 6.20 pm. Tantri (Chief priest) Kantarar Rajivar and Melshanthi ( Head Preist) K. Jayaraman Namboothiri will take them to the shrine.
After decorating the Ayyappa idol with ornaments, between 6.30 pm and 6.50 pm, the Makarajyoti will be seen at Ponnambalamed. The Makarasamkrama muhurtham is at 8.45 pm. After removing the holy ornaments from the Ayyappa idol, the ghee sent from the Kawdiyar palace will be applied on the idol at the time of the Makarasankram. The procession from Malikpuram will start after completing the deity’s dinner or Athazhapooja.
Police have accelerated the security arrangements for the Makaravilakk festival. KSRTC has arranged 1,000 buses for the return journey of the pilgrims. Pilgrims have a chance to visit till 19th. The pilgrimage will conclude on 20th at 6.30 am.
