Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF meeting accepted the recommendation to increase the water tax. The rate will increase by one paisa per litre. Earlier, the water resource department had approached the government to increase the water tax.
But the government decided to discuss the decision within the LDF as it was a subject that could raise public anger. This was then informed by the LDF convener EP Jayarajan. It is said that the objective is to solve the financial loss of the water authority. The water authority currently has a loss of Rs 2,391 crore.
