Thiruvananthapuram: Media reports said that CM Pinarayi Vijayan has cancelled his UAE visit after the Central Government denied permission. The CM of Kerala was officially invited by the Abu Dhabi Government to be part of an investors meeting occurring there. A team consisting of Ministers P Rajeev, PA Muhammad Riyas and Chief Secretary VP Joy were set to depart on the 7th of May.
Ministry of External Affairs have stated that for such meetings, the Chief Minister and other members do not require being there and instead an official team must be sent. The investors’ meeting is happening from 8th of May till 10th at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre. The UAE Minister Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi had sent the official invitation. The impropriety of foreign countries directly inviting the Chief Minister and Ministers was also a reason for denying permission.
A team led by the Chief Secretary will be attending the meeting instead of the Chief Minister and other Ministers.
