Palakkad: Zulfikar (48), a native of Kappur village in Palakkad, died in Karachi jail on Sunday. His body is set to be handed over to his relatives at the Attari-Wagah border in the Punjab region.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the Additional Chief Secretary of Kerala Home Department to take steps to receive the dead body and hand it over to the relatives. Meanwhile, police officials said that the relatives aren’t interested in collecting the body.
Zulfikar was an Indian fisherman who landed in Karachi prison after reportedly breaching the border. According to reports, the NIA and other agencies have been probing the case of Zulfikar, who was working in Dubai, for many years.
