UPSC Civil Service Exam results declared; Malayali Gahana Navya James bags sixth rank

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the results of the Civil Service Examination, 2022 today.  The first four ranks were grabbed by girls. Keralite Gahana Navya James, a native of Pala in Kottayam, secured the sixth rank. Gahana graduated from St Thomas College, Pala with first rank in MA Political Science. She completed BA History at Alphonsa College, Pala.

Gahana bagged the top rank in her second attempt without any coaching. She is currently doing PhD in International Relations at MG University, Kottayam after securing JRF in UGC NET examination. Gahana said that she is extremely happy with the results and like to choose IFS as her uncle IFS officer Sibi George is her inspiration. Sibi George is India’s Ambassador to Japan.

The other Malayalis included in top 100 are Arya VM (rank 36), Anoop Das (rank 38) and S Gautam Raj (rank 63). Arya VM is a native of Balaramapuram. She secured the rank in her second attempt. Arya is currently working as a guest lecturer.

Ishita Kishore topped the rank list. The second rank has been secured by Garima Lohia. Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishri grabbed the third and fourth ranks respectively.

According to the rank list, 933 candidates have been recommended for appointment. The preliminary exam was conducted on June 5, 2022. The Mains examination took place from September 16 to 25. The interviews of the candidates ended on May 18.
