As the power shortage worsened in Pakistan, the government took drastic measures to overcome the situation. The government of Pakistan has stated that all the markets, restaurants, and hotels in the country should be closed by 8 o’clock. On the other hand, the wedding halls that are working in connection with the wedding ceremony are allowed to continue until 10 p.m., and the halls should be closed after that.
The depreciation of the currency in Pakistan and high inflation led to the power shortage. Then the new orders were issued as part of seeking various ways to solve the energy crisis.
It has also been decided to make 20 percent of government employees’ work from home as part of the new policy. The Pakistan government estimates that Rs. 52 billion can be saved if work from home is given on a rotational basis. The government also plans to save Rs. 28 billion by introducing energy-efficient bulbs and fans. Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that electric bikes will be introduced to reduce the petrol consumption.
