New Delhi: The fixtures for Round 2 of the AFC Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024 were announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Thursday. The draw took place in May, revealing challenging matchups for the participating teams.

India, ranked 60th in the world, will begin their Group C campaign against Japan, the silver medalists from the London 2012 Olympics and currently ranked 11th globally. The match is scheduled to take place on October 26 at the JAR Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Three days later, the Indian team, also known as the Blue Tigresses, will face Vietnam, who recently made their debut in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, at the same venue. The group stage will conclude with a match against Uzbekistan on November 1 at the Bunyodkore Stadium. Uzbekistan is ranked 49th in the world.

India’s qualification for Round 2 came through two convincing victories over the Kyrgyz Republic, winning 5-0 and 4-0 in Bishkek back in April. The team will be looking to build on their success and make a strong impression in the tournament.

Round 2 consists of three groups, with four teams in each group. Group A includes Australia, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, and IR Iran, while Group B features China PR, the Korea Republic, Thailand, and DPR Korea.

The top team from each group and the best-ranked runner-up will progress to Round 3, where they will play two home and away matches in February 2024. The winners of these matches will secure the two spots reserved for the AFC in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in Paris in 2024.

The Indian women’s team faces a challenging path to secure qualification for the prestigious Olympic event. However, with their recent successes and growing development in women’s football, they will be eager to compete against strong opponents and showcase their skills on the international stage.

As the anticipation builds for the AFC Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in Paris 2024, Indian football fans eagerly await the clash between India and Japan in the opening match of Group C. The tournament presents an opportunity for the Blue Tigresses to prove their mettle and make their mark in women’s football.

India’s Round 2 fixtures in the AFC Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024 are as follows:

  • Thursday, October 26: Japan vs. India
  • Sunday, October 29: India vs. Vietnam
  • Wednesday, November 1: Uzbekistan vs. India
