New Delhi: Following his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, commended the Prime Minister’s “passionate perspective” on inclusive growth. Al-Issa, who is currently on a visit to India, emphasised the importance of collaboration in addressing all forms of extremism and hatred, irrespective of their origins.
During their discussion on Tuesday, Al-Issa and Prime Minister Modi explored various avenues for promoting interfaith harmony, peace, and human progress. In a tweet the following day, Al-Issa expressed gratitude for the insightful conversation they had, which covered topics such as human-centric development and the significance of fostering understanding and harmony among individuals from diverse faiths and cultures.
“I appreciate His Excellency’s passionate perspective towards inclusive growth,” stated the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League. They also reached a consensus on the necessity of joint efforts to combat extremism and hatred, emphasising the vital role of informed and inclusive citizenship in achieving peace and prosperity in our diverse world.
Moreover, Al-Issa provided detailed insights about the significant meeting in his lecture at the India Islamic Cultural Centre. The lecture, delivered after his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, was well-received by a distinguished audience comprising senior scholars, both Muslim and non-Muslim, as well as intellectuals and politicians from various Indian states.
The Muslim World League, an international non-governmental organisation based in Mecca, encompasses members from all Islamic countries and sects. Its objectives include presenting Islam and its principles of tolerance, providing humanitarian aid, fostering dialogue and cooperation with all societies, embracing diverse cultures and civilizations, promoting moderation, and countering movements advocating extremism, violence, and exclusion.
