New Delhi: In a significant development at the G20 summit held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, an international alliance dedicated to promoting the use of biofuels was unveiled. Named the Global Biofuels Alliance, this coalition comprises eight countries committed to advancing the sustainable use of biofuels.

The founding members of the Global Biofuels Alliance are India, Singapore, Bangladesh, Italy, the United States, Brazil, Mauritius, and the United Arab Emirates. The announcement of this transformative alliance took place on the first day of the G20 summit, with the participation of several world leaders.

The heads of state and government leaders who participated in the formation of the alliance include Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, American President Joe Biden, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah Bin Zayed, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.

The primary objective of the Global Biofuels Alliance is to enhance the global adoption of biofuels while fostering international cooperation in the biofuels sector. This initiative aligns with the broader goals of sustainability and environmental conservation, making it a crucial step towards mitigating climate change.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his social media platform to emphasise the significance of the alliance. He stated that…

The launch of the Global Biofuels Alliance marks a watershed moment in our quest towards sustainability and clean energy.

I thank the member nations who have joined this Alliance. https://t.co/3wgUkmKCyA pic.twitter.com/MOmP1q6g2r
