Kochi: PP Mukundan, a prominent figure in Kerala politics and a former BJP state general secretary, breathed his last at the age of 77 on Wednesday. He passed away at the Amrita Hospital in Kochi at approximately 8:10 a.m. One of his notable contributions was serving as the managing director of Janmabhoomi from 1988 to 1995.

He served as the state organisation general secretary of the BJP in Kerala from 1988–2004, followed by his appointment as BJP South India Organising General Secretary in 2005–2007.

A native of Kannur, Mukundan’s extensive political career left an indelible mark on the landscape of Kerala politics. His dedication and leadership roles within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) earned him respect and recognition among his peers.

Mukundan’s political journey included a significant tenure as a member of the BJP’s national executive. He was widely regarded as a seasoned campaigner for the RSS and played a pivotal role in shaping Sangh Parivar politics within the state.
