New Delhi: The deadline for the exchange of Rs 2,000 notes is set for the 30th of this month, within which you can deposit or exchange these notes. The announcement was made on may 19th regarding the exchange of the notes.
According to the RBI’s report, 76 percent of the total Rs 2,000 notes have been exchanged in banks. The printing of Rs 2,000 notes was discontinued in the fiscal year 2018–19. Today, most of the notes printed before March 2017 are no longer in circulation or in use.
The facility to exchange Rs 2,000 notes is available at the RBI’s regional offices and any nearby bank. No special application or additional documents are required for the exchange of these notes. A person can withdraw up to Rs. 20,000 at a time.
