The police have identified the accused as the stepmother in the case involving the sale of an 11-year-old girl through social media. The cyber cell’s investigation revealed that the stepmother was the one who made the post. She explained to the police that she had posted it following a dispute with the girl’s father.
The Facebook post, which read ‘daughter for sale,’ came to public attention two days ago, who then reported the matter to the police. The police used the phone’s IP ID to investigate and took the father into custody for questioning. Following this, it was found that the father does not use social media, and it was the stepmother who had posted the content following a dispute with him.
The accused woman is also the mother of a 6-month-old child. The police informed that arresting her with the child and putting in jail is challenging and they have sought the advice of higher officials. At the same time, the police informed that the 11-year-old girl, who was abandoned by her mother, will undergo counselling.
