New Delhi: Mukesh Aghi, President and Chief Executive Officer of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, strongly criticized Canada’s remarks regarding Bharat in relation to the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Aghi specifically called out Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau for making accusations without providing any supporting evidence.

“A significant issue, such as the allegations surrounding Nijjar’s killing, was presented in the Parliament of Canada without any substantial evidence… It is unfortunate that the Prime Minister of a country would address a parliament and make allegations without being able to provide credible evidence to support those claims,” said Mukesh Aghi, as reported in various news outlets.

The  relationship between Bharat and Canada goes way back between two countries. There is significant trade between them, with over 2,30,000 Indian students studying there. Canada has invested nearly $55 billion in Bharat. Aghi mentioned that Canada has approached the United States on this matter, indicating that it could potentially impact Bharat-US relations for some time.

On September 19, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed concerns regarding the ‘potential involvement of Indian agents’ in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar, a Canadian citizen was fatally shot by assailants of British nationality on June 18 in British Columbia.
