Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have jointly launched an extensive awareness campaign aimed at educating foreign nationals and residents about entry and residency laws and labour regulations.

Commencing on October 10, the campaign is set to run for three months, and it has garnered the support of various government entities, free zones across the UAE, and media outlets. The initiative is designed to enhance understanding and adherence to key legal provisions pertaining to entry and residency for foreign nationals, as well as the country’s labour laws.

Khalil Al Khoori, Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at MoHRE, emphasized the significance of collaboration with government entities in regulating and bolstering the competitiveness, efficiency, and flexibility of the labour market. He believes that these efforts will contribute to the sustainable development of various sectors in the UAE.

Al Khoori expressed confidence in the positive impact of the campaign on society at large, particularly in promoting compliance with labour and immigration laws.

“The campaign aims to familiarise people with the key provisions of the entry and residency laws for foreign nationals in the UAE, as well as regulations for labour relations (the labour law) and the procedures and penalties for violators,” Al Khoori explained. “This serves to encourage target groups to comply with laws to guarantee the rights of both parties in the employment relationship.”

Major General Suhail Al Khaili, Director-General of the ICP, emphasised that the campaign’s objectives include promoting compliance with the law, especially regarding the entry and residency conditions for foreign nationals and labour relations regulations. It will also highlight the legal measures taken against violators to reinforce a culture of respect for the rule of law within society.
