Kochi: A retired police officer stabs SI and injures him in Eloor, Ernakulam. SI Sunil Kumar of Eloor station was injured during the incident. Simultaneously, the accused attacked two policemen with an iron rod when they came to arrest him. Retired SI Paul was subsequently taken into custody.
The SI and his team had arrived at the accused’s residence after his daughter reported that an intoxicated Paul was causing a disturbance. Upon seeing the police, Paul entered a room and locked the door. Despite repeated calls, the officers outside couldn’t get the door opened. Suddenly, Paul emerged from the room and attempted to attack the policemen with a knife.
During the ensuing struggle, Sunil Kumar was injured while trying to protect a fallen colleague. His hand was injured. As the officers attempted to transport Sunil Kumar to the hospital, Paul turned violent and pursued their vehicle.
