New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Bharat’s Missile Man, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, on his 92nd birth anniversary. The Prime Minister lauded Kalam for his extraordinary scientific prowess and humble demeanor, noting that his unmatched contributions to nation-building will forever be held in high regard.

Dr. Kalam’s impact on Bharat’s space endeavors is immeasurable. He dedicated his expertise to prestigious research institutions like DRDO and ISRO, significantly bolstering Bharat’s standing in space exploration. Dr. Kalam was the visionary behind Bharat’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV), turning a once-distant dream into reality.

Under his leadership, groundbreaking projects aimed at developing ballistic missiles were successfully undertaken, resulting in the creation of Agni and Prithvi, among others. Dr. Kalam served as the Chief Scientific Advisor to the then Prime Minister Vajpayee and played a pivotal role in the Pokhran-II nuclear tests, propelling Bharat into the status of a nuclear-armed nation.

On July 27, 2015, Dr. Abdul Kalam passed away due to a heart attack while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong. His enduring contributions continue to be cherished by the nation.
