Bengaluru: The Pakistan cricket team has been hit by a viral infection within their World Cup camp in India. This health issue has left several players suffering from flu and high fever. While most of them are on the way to recovery, some were unable to attend the optional training session on Tuesday. Abdullah Shafique is presently under quarantine in his room due to fever, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Zaman Khan have also been infected.
Usama Mir was unwell with the flu when Pakistan faced off against India in Ahmedabad last Saturday. Afridi is anticipated to regain his fitness in time for Pakistan’s upcoming match against Australia on Friday, which will take place in Bengaluru. There are no indications of dengue symptoms among the affected players.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement, saying, “Some players got fever in the past few days, and most of them have fully recovered from it.” The Pakistan team arrived in Bengaluru on Sunday following their match with India. Before losing to India, they had won their first two tournaments in Hyderabad against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
