Alappuzha: Complaints have been raised that KSRTC ordinary buses are travelling by displaying fast passenger boards from the Haripad depot. The recent incident involving the Kottayam service bus at 7.45 a.m. has triggered concerns among passengers. Here, a Venad bus operated with a fast passenger board. The passengers entered the bus after seeing its colour, were surprised after seeing the ticket, and found that it was a fast passenger.
The ordinary bus fare starts at Rs 10, while the fast service has a minimum fare of Rs 16, resulting in financial inconvenience for those undertaking shorter distances. This isn’t the first time such incidents have been reported. KSRTC justifies this approach by citing that the reason behind this is the reduction in the number of fast passenger buses and the necessity to prevent disruptions in the Kottayam service.
