Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for the state of Kerala, forecasting heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning from October 31st to November 2nd. IMD has announced a yellow alert for 10 districts. The districts under the yellow alert include Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad.
The weather warning indicates that easterly winds are expected to intensify in the Bay of Bengal and over South India, which may lead to widespread rain with thunder and lightning in various parts of the region, including North Kerala, in the upcoming days. Strong winds are also anticipated in isolated areas during thundershowers. Apart from Kerala, Tamil Nadu is likely to experience rainfall as well.
