Kochi: Kerala opposition leader VD Satheesan asked the state government to be transparent by releasing a comprehensive financial report, commonly referred to as a “white paper,” to detail the financial challenges faced by Kerala. He criticised the government for organising events like ‘Keraleeyam’ at substantial costs while the state grapples with a financial crisis. He added that the government is trying to conceal the reality.
He noted that “last day, the government stated in the High Court that the state is struggling with a severe financial crisis, to the extent that it cannot even provide guarantees. The government faced strong criticism from the High Court in response.” In light of these circumstances, Satheesan questioned the rationale behind hosting extravagant events such as ‘Keraleeyam’ when the state struggles to finance essential services like mid-day meals in schools.
