Kochi: Actor and mimicry star Kalabhavan Haneef passed away in Ernakulam at the age of 63. He succumbed to a stomach ailment in a local hospital. Haneef, a native of Mattancherry, was a prominent figure in the Cochin Kalabhavan and played key comedy roles in numerous popular films, totaling over one hundred and fifty in his career.
Born to Hamza and Subaida in Mattanchery, Ernakulam, Haneef initially engaged in mimicry during his school days and later pursued theater. His artistic journey began with drama and led him to Kalabhavan, where he eventually became the lead mimicry artist. In 1990, he made his entry into cinema with the film ‘Cheppu Kilukana Changati.’
Throughout his career, Haneef showcased his talent in notable films like ‘Vellaripravinte Changathi,’ ‘Ee Parakkum Thalika,’ and ‘Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan.’ His last film, ‘Jaladhara Pumpset,’ was released earlier this year.
