Thiruvananthapuram: A police investigation has been initiated into the case involving the production of fake identity cards by the Youth Congress leadership. Authorities plan to issue notices to Youth Congress leaders, summoning them for questioning in connection to the case. The investigation team aims to identify the individuals responsible for filing the initial complaint and proceed with a comprehensive inquiry.
The fake identity cards were used for voting via the ‘With IYC’ application, the official smartphone app of the Indian Youth Congress. All fake cards have the same numbers. To trace the individuals behind the votes cast using these cards, authorities will gather pertinent information from the agency responsible for conducting the elections. Correspondence will be sent to Congress leaders requesting cooperation in this regard.
Allegations of KPCC vice president VT Balram’s involvement in the creation of these fake cards will be thoroughly investigated. It is suspected that these false identity cards were fabricated with the assistance of a hacker from Malappuram. The investigative team has heightened its efforts to dig deeper into the matter.
