Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Kerala today

New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala today. He will commence the visit by laying the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 19,850 crore. The program kicks off in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, where the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive on January 2 and participate in the 38th graduation ceremony of Bharathidasan University. Furthermore, he will inaugurate the new terminal building of the airport and initiate other development activities in Tamil Nadu.

During his visit to Lakshadweep, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 1150 crore. These include projects related to ensuring better internet connectivity, clean drinking water supply, solar energy and healthcare. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI-SOFC) project. It will increase internet speed by 100 times (from 1.7 Gbps to 200 Gbps).

The Prime Minister will dedicate the Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD) plant at Kadmat to the nation. The LTTD plant will produce 1.5 lakh litres of clean drinking water every day. Narendra Modi will also dedicate to the nation the first battery-backed solar power project in Lakshadweep, Kavaratti Solar Power Plant. The Prime Minister will attend the women’s conference in Thrissur on his arrival in Kerala. 2 lakh women will participate in the program.
