Tiruchirappalli:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurates the new terminal of the Tiruchirappalli International Airport. Elaborate arrangements were made in the area for the Prime Minister’s arrival. His vehicle was adorned with flagpoles and other decorations along the way.

The construction of the international terminal has been completed at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore. According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the terminal can accommodate over 4.4 million passengers and handle up to 3,500 passengers during peak hours. It is equipped with 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage counters, and 60 immigration counters. Tiruchirappalli is the largest airport in Tamil Nadu after Chennai.

The terminal’s design emphasizes cultural uniqueness, featuring temple murals and various cultural symbols throughout. Numerous paintings and mural works have been installed as part of the terminal’s decoration. Raja Vignesh, the creative director of Terminal Artwork, mentioned that the completion of the murals took 30 days.
