Ernakulam: A fan pays tribute to Ganagandharvan, K J Yesudas on his birthday. Vinod Divine, a resident of Ernakulam Cherai, has painted 84 portraits of KJ Yesudas on the occasion of his 84th birthday.
All these depictions were inspired by a profound admiration for Yesudas. Vinod commenced painting during the COVID era when everything was at a standstill. Thus, these images emerged on the canvas without deliberate hand motions. What started as five images burgeoned into ten, then twenty… ultimately culminating in 84. They were created using a ten-rupee pen. Vinod said that he created the canvases based on what others sent to him and what was circulating on the internet.
Apart from the 84 portraits of Yesudas, Vinod has also painted 150 artworks featuring personalities who collaborated with the Ganagandharvan. These paintings will be exhibited in Aluva today. For the past 32 years, Vinod Divine has operated a sticker shop at the Karuthala junction, Cherai.
