Kozhikode: Approximately 50 sovereigns of gold were reported to have been stolen from Rana Gold Jewellery in Thamarassery, Kozhikode. The shop is owned by Abdul Salam, a native of Koduvally, Kozhikode.
Reports indicate that the jewellery shop, is situated near the DySP office in Thamarassery. The jewellery shop owner discovered the incident upon opening the shop in the morning on Wednesday. The owner had closed the store around 7.30 pm the previous night, and upon returning to open the shop at around 8.30 am the next day, he found a hole in the wall.
The thief gained entry into the jewellery shop which is situated on the first floor of the building by breaking the lock of the staircase shutter and subsequently drilling the wall. Upon receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene, initiated investigations, and stated that they have commenced an inquiry based on the available CCTV footage.
