Centre hikes wage rates of workers under MGNREGA scheme, know the revised rates in various states

New Delhi: The central government has announced an increase in the wage rates of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) workers across various states and Union Territories. Effective from April 1, 2024, this wage hike aims to enhance the livelihoods of those engaged in rural employment schemes. Notably, MGNREGA workers in Kerala will now receive Rs 349, up from Rs 333 previously. However, it’s worth mentioning that Haryana and Sikkim are leading in terms of highest wages for MGNREGA workers, with workers in these states receiving Rs 374, marking the highest wage rate.

Here’s a breakdown of the revised MGNREGA wages across various states and Union Territories:

  • Jammu and Kashmir: Rs 259
  • Ladakh: Rs 259
  •  Jharkhand: Rs 245
  • Karnataka: Rs 349
  •  Madhya Pradesh: Rs 243
  • Maharashtra: Rs 297
  • Manipur: Rs 272
  • Meghalaya: Rs 254
  • Mizoram: Rs 266
  • Odisha: Rs 254
  • Nagaland: Rs 234
  • Arunachal Pradesh: Rs 234
  • Andhra Pradesh: Rs 300
  • Assam: Rs 249
  • Bihar: Rs 245
  • Chhattisgarh: Rs 243
  • Goa: Rs 356
  • Gujarat: Rs 280
  • Himachal Pradesh (Scheduled Area): Rs 295
  • Himachal Pradesh (Non-Scheduled Area): Rs 236
  • Punjab: Rs 322
  • Rajasthan: Rs 266
  • Sikkim: Rs 249
  • Three Panchayats in Sikkim: Rs 374
  • Tamil Nadu: Rs 319
  • Telangana: Rs 242
