Lucknow: The mistake that a Muslim youth, Irshad, did was to take part in Kanwar Yathra to Haridwar with his Hindu friends. Irshad’s own community members could not tolerate his actions that they decided to beaten him up severely. Unfortunately, Irshad’s family members were also not safe from the attacks.

Irshad, who belongs to a village in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, was attacked after he returned from Haridwar with his Hindu friends. After Irshad returned to his village he went to a Shiva Temple to offer the holy water he gathered from the Ganga. Irshad had been accompanying his friends on the Kanwar Yathra for some years.

Some members of his community felt offended by Irshad’s participation in Hindu religious functions. They attacked him on Wednesday night at his house in Barka village. Irshad’s father, Ikramuddin, who tried to save his son from the attackers were also assaulted severly. Both father and son sustained serious injuries in the attack by the fundamental Muslim gang.

The Hindu Jagran Manch activists reached Baraut police station and lodged a complaint against the perpetrators. Investigation is going on into the matter and the police are trying to nab the attackers.
