Mumbai: Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal while addressing an event at the 57th convocation of IIT-Bombay as the chief guest claimed that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has acknowledged that in future if speaking computers becomes a reality, it would be primarily due to the contribution of Sanskrit the world’s only scientific language.
“NASA has confirmed that if talking computers were to become a reality, it will only be based on the foundation of Sanskrit. Sanskrit is a scientific language, incomparable to any other. It is the only language where the words are written exactly the way they are spoken,” the minister said.
The HRD minister also hailed Charaka Rishi as one of the main contributors of Ayurveda, who was also the first person to conduct research and discover atoms and molecules.
Maintaining that the world of medicine is incomplete without ayurveda, the minister said, “World over, no hospital can be started without establishing an ‘AYUSH’ wing. This is because without ayurveda, medicine is incomplete,” the minister said.
AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy. The Narendra Modi government, in its first term, had set up a Ministry of AYUSH in November 2014.
The minister also claimed that ancient physician Sushruta was the world’s first surgeon.
