Bhopal: The infighting within the Congress party and government in Madhya Pradesh is reaching a boiling point. The main rivals are Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh working from behind to ouster Scindia.

Today, Jyotiraditya Scindia asked the Chief Minister to listen to his ministers rather than allowing interference from outside, referring to Digvijaya Singh.

Scindia told reporters, “After hard work of 15 years, Congress came to power in the state. There are differences and both sides should be heard. It is the responsibility of the Chief Minister to hear both sides and resolve their differences. The government should function on its own. No one should interfere with the government.”

Scindia was speaking about the issues between a Forest Minister, Umang Singhar and former Chief Minister, Digvijaya Singh. Scindia asked Kamal Nath to listen to both of them and solve the issue.

Recently Singhar had written to Sonia Gandhi complaining about Digvijaya Singh and accused him of running the government from behind the curtain. He also called Singh a blackmailer and involved in illegal mining liquor rackets.

In the letter Singhar said, “I am writing to you with a lot of pain to inform you that senior party leader and MP (Singh) is trying to destabilise the Kamal Nath government and trying to establish himself as a power centre.”

Jyotiraditya Scindia’s remarks come after he was being sidelined from the party affairs of the state. His bid is to become the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief which is now being handled by Chief Minister, Kamal  Nath.

Many of Scindia’s supporters have threatened to quit their posts if he is not made the party president of the state.

The Congress government in Madhya Pradesh hangs on with a wafer thin majority propped up with the support of other parties.

Recently, Jyotiraditya Scindia made news when he supported the Central government’s decision to abrogate Article 370. His pro-Indian stand against the Congress leadership was welcomed by patriotic citizens across the country.
