Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Sharad Pawar, praised Pakistan saying that the people are happy in the Islamic nation and that he had received a warm welcome during his visit to Pakistan.
Pawar also accused BJP and the Central government for spreading fake propaganda against Pakistan.
Interestingly, there is a global backlash against Pakistan for not protecting its minority of Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs. Reports of girls from minority community being kidnapped and converted forcefully to Islam has been coming out one after the other.
The Pakistani Army is also blamed for the death and disappearance of hundreds of Baloch people from the region of Balochistan in Pakistan.
Sharad Pawar said, “People here say Pakistanis are facing injustice and are unhappy but it is not true. Such statements are being made only for political gains without understanding the actual situation in Pakistan. ”
International media has come out with many reports of cruelty against minorities in Pakistan and their plight has been highlighted in many international forums. Human rights activists have protested against Pakistan’s anti-minority stand both in Pakistan and across the world.
Minorities in Pakistan live a life of fear and intimidation under an Islamic law. The blasphemy laws in Pakistan is extremely harsh and unjust and many innocent people are punished.
Sharad Pawar’s statement praising Pakistan and blaming the Indian government for the false propaganda is considered by many political experts as an attempt to consolidate the minority vote ahead of the Maharashtra elections.
