Mumbai: BJP leader and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, was unanimously elected the leader of the BJP legislative party in the Vidhan Sabha.
He was elected in a meeting attended by Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and the BJP National Vice President Avinash Rai Khanna. The BJP is continuing its talks with Shiv Sena to come to a decision in the sharing of portfolios and other arrangements. Once the talks are complete the BJP led NDA will form the next government in the state.
Meanwhile, NCP decided to sit in the opposition and will convene a meeting today to discuss future plans and to elect who will lead the party in the state.
The BJP bagged around 105 seats and its main ally Shiv Sena took about 56 seats in recently concluded legislative election in the state. The NCP comes third with 54 seats followed by the Congress party with only 44 seats.
