Mumbai: After ascending the chair of Chief Minister in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, said today that he is still with Hindutva ideology and promised not to leave it ever. He also said that former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is a responsible leader after the BJP leader became the opposition leader.
Uddhav Thackeray while speaking in the Assembly said, “I have learnt a lot of things from Devendra Fadvanis and I will always be friends with him. I am still with the ideology of ‘Hindutva’ and won’t ever leave it. In the past 5 years, I’ve never betrayed the government.”
Applauding the BJP leader, Uddhav Thackeray also spoke about the falling out between the BJP and the Shiv Sena. He said, “I won’t call you (Devendra Fadnavis) an ‘Opposition leader’, but I will call you a ‘responsible leader’. If you would have been good to us then, all this (BJP-Shiv Sena split) would have not happened”
Congress leader Nana Patole was elected as the new Speaker without opposition after BJP withdrew their nominee.
The Shiv Sena walked out of the 30 year alliance with BJP after the saffron party refused to give in to the Sena’s demand for Chief Minister post for 2.5 years. The Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray brokered an alliance with NCP and Congress to capture power in the state.
Many believe that Thackeray’s speech about his commitment to the Hindutva ideology is an effort to keep his Shiva Sainiks together. Many cadres of the right-wing party are disillusioned after Shiv Sena went for an alliance with their arch rivals, the Congress party.
