Islamabad: Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has been sentenced to death by a Pakistani court in the high treason case, according to Pakistani media reports.
The court comprising Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth, Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court (SHC) and Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court (LHC) took up the high treason case against Musharraf earlier today or suspending the Constitution and imposing emergency rule in the country in November 2007, a punishable offence for which he was indicted in 2014.
Musharraf has been living in exile since 2016 in Dubai for “seeking medical treatment” and never returned to the country. The case has been pending since December 2013 when he was charged with the case.
Despite several failure to appear in the court, it issued a directive to the Federal Investigation Agency to arrest him.
