New Delhi: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will visit Kokrajhar in Assam to celebrate the signing of the Bodo Accord with four factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), All Bodo Students’ Union and civil society group to bring peace to the areas where Bodo people are dominant in Assam.
The accord was signed on 27 January and two days later 1,615 soldiers of different factions of NDFB laid down their arms and surrendered.
This visit is also Modi’s first visit to the state since the anti-CAA protests erupted. Taking to Twitter yesterday, the Prime Minister said, “Tomorrow, I look forward to being in Assam. I will be in Kokrajhar to address a public meeting. We will mark the successful signing of the Bodo Accord, which brings to an end a problem that had been persisting for decades. It marks the start of a new era of peace and progress.”
A cultural event of ethnic groups of Assam is organized during the Prime Minister’s visit to showcase the diversity of the state.
