PM Modi expresses anguish on demise of M P Veerendra Kumar

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his anguish on the demise of Rajya Sabha MP , M.P. Veerendra Kumar.

PM Modi said that Kumar distinguished himself as an effective legislator and Parliamentarian.

“Anguished by the passing away of Rajya Sabha MP Shri M.P. Veerendra Kumar Ji. He distinguished himself as an effective legislator and Parliamentarian. He believed in giving voice to the poor and underprivileged. Condolences to his family and well wishers. Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted.

MP Veerendra Kumar, 84, died of heart attack in a private hospital in Kozhikode district on Thursday night. He was the Chairman and Managing Director of one of the two biggest Malayalam newspapers, Mathrubhumi, and its top executive for nearly 40 years.

He was a serving member of the Rajya Sabha as an independent backed by the Left parties.
