New Delhi: Elections for 19 Rajya Sabha seats across eight states have begun on Friday. Of the 19 seats which will contest for Rajya Sabha poll, four each are from Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, three each from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two from Jharkhand, and one each from Manipur, Mizoram, and Meghalaya.
The election which was initially scheduled on March 26, was postponed in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
The counting of votes will be held on Friday evening itself as per the announcement made by the Election Commission earlier.
In the latest update, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has cast his vote at the state Assembly in Bhopal.
