New Delhi: What could be more successful for the Bharatiya Janata Party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday became the fourth longest-serving Prime Minister. The other three longest-serving Prime Ministers were Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Dr Manmohan Singh.
The highlight is that PM Modi is the first person from a non-Congress origin, surpassing Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
PM Modi first stepped into the post of 14th Prime Minister of the country on May 26,2014 and yet continues with a high majority for the second term of office.
Nehru’s tenure lasted for 17 years, followed by his daughter Indira Gandhi who served for two terms for about 11 years and nearly five years respectively. Dr Manmohan Singh was the prime minister for 10 years.
PM Modi is now scheduled to deliver his seventh Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
