New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Law Ministry have been served with notice by the Supreme Court based on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking uniform law for adoption and guardianship.
The PIL filed by BJP leader and SC lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay was heard by a three-member bench comprising of Justices AS Bopanna, V Ramasubramanian and Arvind Bobde. Upadhyay had sought for a direction to the respondents to remove anomalies in the grounds of ‘adoption and guardianship’ and make them uniform for all citizens without discrimination on any ground.
