Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said that aerospace major Boeing India would set up a 200 beds oxygen in the city.

In a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he said the sudden surge in the Covid-19 cases has led to an exponential demand for oxygen.

Stating that at present growth rate, the state may require 1500 MT OXYGEN BY May 15 based on the consumption norms of the centre as against the allocation of 964 MT.

In this background Boeing India has come forward to set up a 200 oxygenated beds hospital at the KPCL site in Yelahanka, where there is an assured oxygen supply from the KPCL gas plant. This will help lessen the load on existing oxygen supplies in the state, he said.

In reply, Ms Sitharaman tweeted, thanking Boeing for coming forward to set up two 200 oxygenated bed hospitals in Karnataka for Covid-19 cases and Kalburgi to serve Bidar, Belagavi and Raichur.
