The all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to discuss the future course of action for the Union Territory has commenced here at the Prime Minister’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
The dialogue with the Kashmiri leaders would be first of its kind since August 5, 2019 when the Centre stripped the erstwhile state of its special status and divided it into two Union Territories.
Besides the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers — Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and other leaders of Jammu and Kashmir are present in the meeting.
The meeting is expected to chalk out a road map for holding Assembly elections and the ongoing delimitation process there.
