Kathua district Administration imposes ban on use of drones, flying objects

Jammu, Jul 3 (UNI):   Days after ban was imposed on the use, sale and purchase of drones in Rajouri district, the Kathua district administration has also imposed restrictions in use of drones and flying objects in the aftermath of twin bomb blasts on Air Force base Jammu airdropped from drones a week ago.

In an order, District Magistrate Kathua, Rahul Yadav, in exercise of his powers, has said that it has been noticed that the use of small drone cameras has increased in the society for capturing photos and videos in the Social and Culture gatherings.

“A ban is imposed on the use of any drone or small flying objects, flying toys in the district and drones operating in Kathua District needs to be registered with ACR/SDM,” he expressed.

The District Magistrate said that the ACR/SDM shall issue a Unique Identification Number (UIN) and maintain proper register while the Drone pilots must maintain a direct visual line of sight at times while flying, no drone can be flown more than 400 feet vertically and the drones cannot be flown near areas close to airports, international borders, LOC, Secretariat Complex, strategic locations, vital installations and military installations.

No drone shall be flown after sunset and before sunrise and in case of an exigency, prior permission of DM/ADM shall be obtained, the order read.

It further read that the owner of the drone and operator thereof shall liable for damages incurred, to person or property, due to mishandling or malfunctioning of drone or otherwise; the penal provisions shall be attracted to anyone violating the established norms, guidelines and regulations regarding operations of drones under Sec-188 IPC.
