Thiruvananthapuram: Catastrophic cyclone Mocha likely to hit the shores of Myanmar and Bangladesh by today noon. With a wind speed that can reach as high as 210 km per hour, the cyclone is barrelling towards the coasts leading the people to evacuate from the area.
As the intense cyclone reaches close, Kerala is also expected to have rainfalls in isolated locations and will have heavy rainfalls by Wednesday. There are no special warnings for rain today and no hindrance for fishermen going into the sea.
In the meantime, West Bengal and other North-Eastern states are on high alert. NDRF camps have been set up in West Bengal and also conducted cyclone awareness in the coastal regions as well.
Tripura, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram have been notified of the impending rain and have advised the fishermen to not go into the sea.
