Chandigarh: The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) conducted raids over 100 locations across six states in the country in connection with nexus between gangsters, drug smugglers and terrorist groups. As per reports, NIA teams conducted raids in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh. But more details have not been revealed yet. NIA had conducted raids at 12 places in Punjab alone.
Meanwhile, NIA had also conducted raids at Jammat-e-Islami centres in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. Seven places were raided in connection with providing financial assistance to terrorists. NIA team had also visited Shopian. Similar raids were conducted by NIA at 16 places in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of May. The raids were conducted in presence of Jammu Kashmir police and CRPF.
Recently, 2,500 kg drugs worth Rs 25,000 crore were seized off the Kerala coast by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Pakistan national named Subair was arrested from the boat. It is reported that the drugs were traced to a Pakistan-based mafia led by Haji Salim. NIA has also launched probe in the drug seizure.
