New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an interview to a leading Japanese media, said that India is fully ready to and committed to protect its sovereignty and self-respect. The Prime Minister also spoke about India’s relation with China and Pakistan.

Modi said that for bilateral relation to be sustained between nations there must be peace and stability at the borders. Referring to the country’s relation with China, he said that a smooth relation with China can be possible only by mutual respect and considering the each other’s interests.

He continued that if the relation between India and China becomes normal it would benefit South Asia and also the whole world. India-China relation had turned worse after the Galwan skirmish in June 2020. Even though both the sides held several meetings, a solution could not be found.

Concerning Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that India wishes to have normal relation with that country. However, for that to happen, Pakistan must eschew its policy of encouraging terrorism. He also pointed out that Pakistan has the responsibility in implementing steps to curb terrorism.
