Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing Bharatiya Janata Party booth workers in Bhopal, criticised opposition parties for their vote-bank politics and policy of appeasement. He emphasised that those supporting triple talaq were doing a grave injustice to Muslim women. PM Modi questioned why countries like Pakistan, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, which are predominantly Muslim, have banned triple talaq if it is considered a necessary tenet of Islam.

“Whoever talks in favour of Triple Talaq, whoever advocates it, those vote-bank-hungry people are doing a great injustice to Muslim daughters. Triple talaq doesn’t just do injustice to daughters. It is beyond this; the whole family gets ruined,” said PM Modi.

Referring to Article 44 of the Indian Constitution, which mandates the state provide citizens with a uniform civil code, PM Modi stressed the importance of equal rights for all. He mentioned that the Supreme Court has also called for the implementation of a Uniform Civil code and accused the opposition of playing vote-bank politics.

PM Modi also expressed concern that people are being instigated in the name of the Uniform Civil Code and urged Muslims to understand which political parties are exploiting them for political gain. He mentioned the plight of Pasmanda Muslims and stated that appeasement politics has left many people behind. He called on BJP workers to educate Muslims about the true intentions of such politics and ensure they are not victims of divisive tactics.

The PM emphasised that true support for Muslims would uplift them and ensure they were not impoverished or deprived. He accused the opposition of hungering only for the vote bank and disregarding the welfare of the Muslim community. PM Modi also reiterated the need for a Uniform Civil Code and urged the BJP cadre to work towards its implementation.
