Modi govt’s efforts for the OBC community should be welcomed; Pasmanda Muslims neglected for long says Union Minister Bhupender Yadav

New Delhi: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav emphasised the long-standing neglect of Pasmanda Muslims and praised the efforts of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in addressing the concerns of the OBC community. These remarks were made following PM Modi’s acknowledgment of the challenges faced by Pasmanda Muslims and Muslim women during a BJP campaign event in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, ahead of the upcoming elections.

Yadav pointed out that Pasmanda Muslims have been caught in the crossfire of political appeasement tactics that aim to divide the country. He urged BJP workers to engage with Muslims, educate them about the detrimental impact of such politics, and work towards a united society. The Union minister noted that the opposition parties, claims to champion the cause of the Other Backward Class (OBC) votes, have failed to advocate for justice for Pasmanda Muslims. He emphasised that justice should be extended to all communities.

Responding to allegations from the opposition that the BJP is attempting to create divisions within the Muslim community by recognising the concerns of Pasmanda Muslims, Yadav countered by highlighting the historical basis for such recognition. He pointed out that during the Mandal Commission, Pasmanda Muslims were identified based on their occupation. Yadav reiterated the government’s commitment to social justice, emphasising that marginalised and economically deprived communities should receive their rightful share of benefits and development.

Yadav further stated that the government’s aim is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, can lead a life of dignity. He commended Prime Minister Modi for his efforts to bring about positive change in the lives of disadvantaged communities over the past nine years. Yadav emphasised that the actions conducted for the OBC group also include the Pasmanda community, and so the attention paid to Pasmanda Muslims by the BJP administration led by PM Modi should be welcomed and acknowledged. He questioned the necessity of raising concerns in this case.
