Bharatpur: Union Minister Piyush Goyal took a dig at the opposition parties on Sunday, referring to their alliance as a “collation of corrupts.” He dismissed their unity, asserting that it would have no impact on the voting outcome for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In an interview with the media, the Union Minister said that the leaders of the opposition parties cannot influence a single vote outside their respective states.
“Opposition unity cannot make any difference for the BJP. For example-DMK’s Stalin cannot influence a single vote outside Tamil Nadu; Mamata Banerjee cannot affect a single vote outside West Bengal, and leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar can harm their own parties. Nobody likes bewafa (betrayer) parties’ like Nitish Kumar’s JD (U) and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT),” Goyal said.
A joint meeting of 15 opposition parties was convened by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his official residence in Patna, Bihar, on June 23. The meeting aimed to strategize against the BJP for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Piyush Goyal, currently in Rajasthan for the ongoing ‘Maha Jansampark Abhiyana’ of the BJP ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections, declared that the people of the state had decided to reinstate the party. He accused the Ashok Gehlot-led government in Rajasthan of engaging in corrupt practises, emphasising that despite the central government’s allocation of funds, corruption prevented the benefits from reaching the intended recipients. On Saturday, Goyal further predicted that the Congress party would struggle to secure even 21 seats in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan.
