Jammu & Kashmir: The bodies of two soldiers, who were swept away in a flash flood in the Poonch district of Kashmir, have been discovered. The deceased are Naib Subedar Kuldeep Singh and Lance Naik Telu Ram. One of the bodies was recovered on Saturday night and the second was found on Sunday.

The tragic event took place while the soldiers were on patrol. Army officials said that they were trying to cross the Dogra nallah when they were swept by the flash flood on Saturday. One of the bodies has been sent for postmortem.

The official twitter account of White Knight Corps said, “During an area domination patrol in the difficult terrain of Poonch, L/Nk Telu Ram while crossing a mountainous stream got swept away due to flash flood. Nb Sub Kuldeep Singh, the Patrol leader while attempting to save L/Nk Telu Ram also laid down his life.”

A report said that the Indian Army paid tributes to the deceased soldiers who hailed from Punjab. The Army said the General Officer Commanding of White Knight Corps, also known as 16 Corps, and all the ranks salute the brave soldiers and stand in solidarity with their families.

The mortal remains of the soldiers will be sent to their native places in Punjab after a wreath-laying ceremony, said a report quoting the defence spokesman.
